The team is missing Gattuso’s fighting sprit despite the player being ever present at the San Siro as was seen on Wednesday against Arsenal. A couple of days later, he spoke to the Milan Channel explaining his situation with the eye injury as well as his state of mind.

Here’s what he had to say: “I’m feeling a bit better and I hope to be able to start back with physical work within a week. I miss playing football at the moment and I hope that Dr. Liguori will cut back on the cortisone which stops me from doing more physical work. If it was sup to me I’d take to the pitch immediately but I have to wait and see what the doctor says. My condition is a strange one and difficult to beat. It’s hard for me and Antonio but he’s calm as well and I hope he finds his way out.”

The Gunners had absolutely nothing against a brilliant Milan side and already after 15 minutes, Kevin-Prince Boateng found the back of the net with a fantastic strike. Arsenal often look clueless because they lack experience in their squad, according to AC Milan attacker Kevin Prince Boateng, who had a spell with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners face AC Milan in the Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday, with the first leg taking place at the San Siro. And ahead of that clash, Boateng has cranked up the heat on Arsenal, who may need to win the competition in order to compete in it again next season.

Arsene Wenger's men have been nowhere near the title picture in the current campaign and, although they currently lie fourth, their form has been inconsistent: three losses in their last five Premier League fixtures.

"I'm not scared of Arsenal," Boateng told The Sun. "The problem with Arsenal is one day they play amazing football and then they play really badly. In the end they don't have balance. They either play unbelievable football or they don't know what they're doing.

"It comes down to inexperience. Arsenal don't know what you have to do to win titles - they're always close but they break down. The players are young, hungry, but don't know how to break this target. Without the experience it's difficult.

"There's always something missing at Arsenal. That bit is the experience - we have so much of that at Milan and that is what they need."

In a vastly improved second-half performance, two goals ensured that the Rossoneri ended their poor form of late to replace Juventus at the summit of the league

AC Milan came from behind to beat Udinese 2-1 at the Stadio Friuli to take a valuable three points which take them to the top of Serie A.

The Zebrette started well and took a first-half lead through Antonio Di Natale. However, a vastly improved second-half display saw the Rossoneri come back from the dead through late strikes from Maxi Lopez and Stephan El Shaarawy.

Udinese sat fairly deep from the off as they looked to catch Milan on the break, and Mauricio Isla saw his ambitious effort fly narrowly over the bar after just 15 minutes.

In the 19th minute Di Natale picked up the ball in the middle of the Milan half and played a give-and-go with Gelson Fernandes. It cut straight through the heart of Milan’s defence and the prolific striker’s effort deflected off of Thiago Silva and looped over Marco Amelia and into the net.

With Milan being overwhelmed in the midfield, the Zebrette missed a chance to enhance their lead with 10 minutes of the first half remaining. Isla sent in a lovely ball from the left and a confident Di Natale attempted to shoot first time but snatched at it, sending it back across goal and wide.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic absent due to suspension, the Milan attack lacked a focal point with Robinho and El Shaarawy up front. The Italian striker almost pounced on some lax defending in stoppage time but fired over the bar from close range.

The Rossoneri emerged a different side for the second half, but for all their improved creativity and motivation the equaliser remained elusive. Ignazio Abate and Clarence Seedorf both put in some great deliveries but there was no Milan player to add the finishing touch.

Pablo Armero was having a storming game and should have put Udinese two goals up as they worked their way back into the game. Di Natale’s through ball put the Colombian through one-on-one but Djamel Mesbah showed a great turn of pace to recover and steal the ball off his toe.

After substitute Maxi Lopez threw himself to the ground at the edge of the box, Udinese countered. Armero passed to Maurizio Domizzi who stabbed a tame effort at goal which Amelia turned behind. From the resultant corner Danilo forced the keeper into a great save.

The home side were made to rue their missed chances moments later when Samir Handanovic spilled El Shaarawy’s shot into the path of Maxi Lopez, who slotted into the open net.

Two minutes later El Shaarawy and Robinho were both denied after a defensive mix-up almost handed Milan the lead.

The Rossoneri completed their comeback with five minutes of normal time remaining when Maxi Lopez centred the ball from the right flank and El Shaarawy fired emphatically in at the near post.

The win means that Milan overtake Juventus and sit on top of the league, with the Old Lady out of action this weekend due to the snow-enforced postponement of their trip to Bologna. Udinese remain fourth but could see Inter close the gap between the two sides to just two points tomorrow when they host Novara.

IT WAS A VERY dramatic Saturday evening at Stadio Friuli as Udinese hosted Milan. Antonio Di Natale gave the Zebrette the lead in the 19′ minute as Milan were poor in the first half and deservedly went back to the locker room trailing. The Rossoneri continued to be unimpressive in the second half, but Massimiliano Allegri sent in Maxi Lopez and the January signing made the difference. The Argentine scored Milan’s equalizer in the 77′ minute, and set up the excellent youngster Stephan El Shaarawy for the winning goal in the 85′ minute. 27 reasons to describe himself in this mould-breaker interview, Kevin Prince reveals all to “Forza Milan!” readers talking everything about love, family, friendship, cuisine, cars, books, music, holidays and much more.

Do you know what it feels like going on a roller coaster? You go up, up, up and upper; and then pum! Stop. A second wait and down going full blast, with air opening your mouth. Just after a twinkling of an eye you are in the loop and then everyone to the right and to the left and a loop more before reaching slowly the finish. Here’s in short the first year passed here by oursiebenundzwanzig, twenty-seven, or rather Kevin Prince Boateng. A year started in August 2010 a bit on the quiet, because surely our playmaker were barely known, but well-appreciated by the football experts who were right about this Ghanian-German with an unbridled body and unquestioned technical qualities. Prince’s life changed deeply since then: he arrived in Italy as a semi-unknown football player, married and with a son, today is a firm first string player in Allegri’s line-up, he keeps scoring goals and making assists and is happily engaged with Melissa Satta, after the ending of his marriage last summer. Not bad for a lap on roller coaster. But that isn’t all. Kevin chose for his jersey the number 27: there are many curiosities about this number. 27 is the perfect cube because it’s exactly the result of 3 cubed and, to remain in a mathematical area, it’s the sum of the digits of his own cube (27³=19683, 1+9+6+8+3=27). Twenty-seven is the atomic number of cobalt, a silver-white element whose etymology probably comes from the Greek kobalos, sprite, and maybe Boateng resembles a little to a sprite, especially on the pitch when he runs from a side to the other with the agility of an African gazelle. So we decided to introduce him with 27 curiosities which reveal personality, dreams, merits and faults.

1 - Mozzarella - Ah! It’s one of my favourite food. I eat it with oil and a ground of salt and pepper or with raw ham. I like to put it also on a dish of pasta with tomato sauce. I have to tell Italian cuisine was the first thing that impressed me when I arrived in your country. I remember I was with a friend in Genoa and they brought us in a restaurant for lunch: both of us were enraptured and my first thought was “Italy is the country for me!”.

2 - Bentley - My passion for luxury cars isn’t a mystery. There was a time in my life I had many of them. Now I “please” myself only with my Bentley: I enshrine it and use it only on special occasions. I like to drive it sometimes only for going around alone and relax: once I went in Germany by car, my own Bentley. For the day-by-day instead I have my Audi.

3 - Fault - It’s hard… I should say, despite the appearances, sometimes I’m too kind with people and not always people behave in good faith toward me. After all, I’m a good guy.

4 - Friend - My best friend’s name is Onay and lives in Germany. I met him 6 years ago thanks to common acquaintances and then we built a relation of deep and honest friendship. Sometimes he comes here in Italy to visit me and when he’s here I always take him with me, even on trainings.

5 - Regret - Not having worked 100% in the past. There was a time in my career, when I was in England (he played for Tottenham and Portsmouth between 2007 and 2010, n.d.me), I overrated myself and didn’t apply. I think I grew up since then: I was lucky to come in a big club like Milan and, working hard, I saw you can win important trophies like a Scudetto and a Super-Cup. Today I’m totally focused on my work and I think people appreciate it.

6 - Michael Jackson - Oh my god, I miss him so much! I’m not kidding, Michael was my idol since forever, an inspiring person, not only because I think he was the best singer ever, but also because of all the messages he transmitted in his songs. If I had to choose two of them I’d say “She is out of my life” and “Human Nature”. When I knew about his death I cried, for real.

7 - Love - Since I became a father I understood that there are two kind of love. One for children: an unconditional, unbounded and infinite love. The other is the love you feel for the person you have by your side. After 8 years last summer, the relationship with my wife finished. Today, beyond all my expectations, I’m still in love. I didn’t look for that, on the contrary, it arrived like a bolt from the blue, but I didn’t move aside because what I feel for Melissa is a feeling which makes me happy, it makes us happy.

8 - Memory - I disclose a secret. When I was young and my parents were split yet, I remember my grandfather came every week to visit me and my older brother George. Every time, no matter what, he gave us 2 Deutschmarks each and we immediately ran to buy candies: our mom didn’t want because we had ruined teeth, but that was a dream for us!

9 - Dream - The world peace? That too, but above all I’d like my son will grow up healthy and will become a good father, husband and man.

10 - City - Berlin is where I was born and has a very special place in my heart. I’d add also London and Milan.

11 - Holiday - I prefer the sea, but I can’t stay in the same place for a long time. So I usually choose places that offer more than sea and beach life. Last Christmas I’ve been in Miami with my brother Jerome (he’s a Bayern München player n.d.me) and we had fun watching some basketball matches, a sport I love a lot.

12 - Match - The one I remember with excitement is my debut in Bundesliga with Hertha Berlin, my first team. We played against Eintracht Frankfurt and I remember I made a good assist.

13 - Goal - I choose the one against Barcelona in San Siro. When I watch it, I’m really proud of myself: a difficult and beautiful goal, it was crazy.

14 - Jermaine - It’s my son’s name. He is three years and a half old and now lives with his mother in Germany. The biggest pain about separation was having to go away from him, but surely I’ll do my best to not make him miss me. Even if, with my job, it’s not easy.

15 - Book - I really liked a book I read recently: “Die wüsten blumen” (the desert flower) it’s the story of the famous Somali model Dirie Warls, infibulated as kid; she ran away from her own country to get a life abroad with a lot of dignity and courage.

16 - Song - I have to tell I like every kind of music, most of all rap, even the German and Italian one, why not. Between recent songs I choose “How to Love” by Lil Wayne.

17 - Playstation - I like to play on it after matches, to relax. I play FIFA 2012 and always choose Milan. Challenges with Nesta? Not many because he prefers Pro Evolution Soccer and he’s invincible in there, but in FIFA 2012 I win!

18 - Movie - “Scarface”. I like it a lot, it’s well-done, well played, a beautiful story.

19 - Actor - More than one. I choose Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Will Smith.

20 - Cuisine - I’m not a master-chef, but I won’t starve to death on a desert island. I like to cook pasta, I love it. In general I like simple foods, not much elaborate.

21 - Instinct - I believe I have enough of it. Beside the one in football which allows you to score goals like the one against Barcelona, instinct leads me in life too. Many of my right choices, were suggested by instinct.

22 - Lucky charm - I wear a little bracelet on my left wrist. Melissa has the same one.

23 - Twenty-three - It was the number I had during the World Cup and in Portsmouth. It brought me luck and it was also the number of a big champion , Michael Jordan. It’s my son’s birthday too.

24 - Charity - You do it without saying. I don’t like to tell what I do, but I think it’s a duty for famous people like me, trying to help who need it.

25 - Money - I’d be a liar if I say money doesn’t help, in many situations it does. My thought it’s that it helped me to grow up: according to me when you are famous and rich, you can realize who of the people close to you is disinterested. Money sometimes shows people’s real character.

26 - Shoes - Uh! I have a million of them… I don’t know exactly how many, there are pairs I bought years ago that I never wore! Shoes are my passion: I like to buy them and get as presents too.

27 - Twenty-seven - Here we are. Number 7 and numbers ending with this digit are absolutely my favourite ones. Siebenundzwanzig: this is the number I chose when I started my career as professional football player and luckily it was free when I arrived in Milan. A curiosity, my son was born on the 23^rdApril: 23 + 4 = 27.

Milan suffered a big blow today as minutes after the official announcement of Alexander Merkel’s return to Milan, it was revealed that Kevin-Prince Boateng is suffering from a flexor injury and is out for a month.

Boateng is one of the best important players in the squad of Coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is suffering from many injuries already in midfield and attack as he has Flamini, Aquilani, Cassano all out of action.
Boateng is therefore at risk of losing the first game of the Champions League eight-finals against Arsenal. The very same thing happened last year when Milan had to face Tottenham – Boateng was not fully fit after sitting some weeks out with an injury and couldn’t deliver, playing one of his worst games for il Diavolo.

Milan also confirmed that Christian Abbiati is injured and will not be available for one week. In the meantime, rumours of Philippe Mexes injured again for eight weeks are not correct and are unfounded.

The Most Anticipated Match of the Year

THIS Derby Della Madonnina should be the most-attended match in AC Milan history.

The 79,522 tickets sold will make this derby the highest grossing Milan home game in the club’s history. This season’s second derby in all competitions and first of the new year and Serie A season comes with Milan leading the table, and Inter chasing a Champion’s League place. I think it’s safe to say that the objective for this season domestically is to win the Serie A. Inter, at this point, have all but given up on the title race. Assuming it will take 80 points to win the league this year, Inter must win 17 more games this season (they’ve won 7 in the league to this point), or alternatively, must average 2.42 points per match.

Milan, tied with Juventus, need 2.26 points per match, or 12 wins and 4 draws from their remaining matches to reach the 80 point mark. Long-term this game has far more importance to Inter if they plan on challenging for the title, and for that reason, they will have an extra motivation to succeed. Milan are not short of motivation, as not only would a win effectively end Inter’s Scudetto campaign, but it would allow Milan to keep pace with Juventus, who are expected to take full points at home against Cagliari.

This isn’t the first pivotal derby in recent times, consider how last season’s first derby signified the first win under Max Allegri, and how the second derby win ended Inter’s title hopes. Milan have already beaten Inter, in this season’s SuperCopa in China by the score of 2-1. Of course, every derby has increased significance. When the schedules come out in the beginning of each season, the first question on everyone’s mind is “When do we play Inter?” Just because there is an 8 point gap in the standings does not mean that Milan can afford to give anything but one of the best performances of the season. Milan, in stark contrast to last season, have been poor against the top 5, losing away to Napoli and Juventus, and drawing at home against Udinese and Lazio. A win vs Inter is necessary as Juventus, Udinese and Napoli have already taken all three points from Inter.

In order to take all three points, Milan will need to first off, avoid a sending off, as Rino Gattuso can attest. If the preliminary formations and lineups stay the same, then the battle for the game will take place in the center of the field, and the team that controls the midfield will be the team that is able to control the pace of the game. It will be interesting to see how Motta and Cambiasso deal with the three Milan central midfielders, Nocerino, Boateng (who it is reported will be starting in the trocar) and Van Bommel. Milan should have the numerical advantage in midfield, but should lack the width that Inter will be able to come in with the 4-4-2. Ricky Alvarez is the danger man at the moment for Inter Milan, as he has recently been in such great form that Sneijder’s absence has not been felt as it would have in previous years.

It is clear that Milanista will settle for no less than a win, and given the current form of the squad, it is a reasonable expectation to take all three points. Ibrahimovic is riding a 6-game scoring streak, and Pato is riding a post-hitting streak. There is also the 13-goal combined haul coming from either side of midfield. It is (at the time of writing) not clear who will start in the trearquista position, but personally I prefer the selection of Robinho behind Alexandre Pato and Ibrahimovic. Pato will be charged up and ready to prove himself after Patogate2012 has stalled. Also, this allows there to be a backup at the trearquista position (Urby Emanuelson) as well as two backup strikers (the underused duo of Stephen El-Shaarawy and Pippo Inzaghi).

In any event, don’t forget Max Allegri is the one in training everyday, and the one who knows the players best. All we can do is back him, and support our side as they eliminate Inter from the title race on Sunday!

AC Milan have announced that Antonio Cassano will be able to return to training on Saturday.

The Italy international has been out of action for more than two months after undergoing heart surgery in November after suffering cerebral trauma during his side's return from a Serie A match in Rome"Milan would like to announce that during the course of this week, Antonio Cassano underwent neorological tests with the team of professor Nereo Bresolin and Yvan Torrente and cardiological tests with professor Mario Carminati," a club statement read.

"Both tests showed positive results, so Antonio Cassano will start progressive individual athletic training tomorrow [Saturday]."

The news will come as a massive boost to Massimiliano Allegri's side, although there is no clear sign of when Cassano will be match-fit again.

After pulling out of negotiations for Manchester City's Carlos Tevez, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said he was hopeful of having the 29-year-old back soon, though the player said at the end of 2011 that he doesn't expect to return this term.

Despite failing to land the Argentine star, Galliani stressed that his side will not sign any new striker in January, reiterating the club's faith in the attacking options available.

KEVIN-PRINCE BOATENG believes the game on Sunday will be tougher than the derby in 2 weeks.

Serie A resumes on Sunday afternoon for Milan after the Dubai training camp and they have a rather tricky game on the pitch of Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, as they are visiting the perhaps overachieving Atalanta.

Milan are currently at the top of the Serie A table, along with Juventus have the exact same number of points. Milan have two difficult games coming in Atalanta and Inter, but one is tougher than the other one.

“The game against Atalanta will be more difficult than the derby,” said Milan’s midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng to the microphones of Milan Channel on Friday. “Because they defend well and against us they’ll sit back a lot. It’s important for me to win the title, that’s what I train for every day at Milanello. But we’ll see.”

Boateng already stated that he believes that Milan should and will beat Arsenal & advance to the next stage of Europe’s elite competition. “Maybe if we win the Champions League I’ll get another tattoo,” he added.

The former Ghana international is believed to be in doubt for the Atalanta game, along with Ignazio Abate. However, Boateng, 24-year-old, who suffered from fitness issues in the last days, trained today with the group. Mathieu Flamini, Antonio Cassano and Mario Yepes will miss the game with long-term injuries.

KEVIN-PRINCE BOATENG believes it’ll be a head-to-head battle with Juventus for the Scudetto.

Milan had a great 2011 with the Scudetto and the Supercoppa Italiana won, but Kevin-Prince Boateng believes this year, 2012, will be the Rossoneri’s and says he might get another tattoo if Milan win the UCL.

Boateng, who celebrated the New Year with his girlfriend Melissa Satta, won’t take place in the game against Paris-Saint Germain through a minor injury, so he’s already looking forward to the rest of the year.

“The year of 2012 will be our year, but we will go head to head for the league title with Juventus, they play well and are a great team,” Boateng told Milan Channel and then continued about the Dubai training camp: “There’s a great climate, we can work well for 7-8 days and prepare for the 2nd half of the season.”

Milan’s next game is against Atalanta but the heads of the fans is already in the derby against Inter. “It will be a great game,” he said. “It will be important to win: if I score, it’ll be even better. It is important to win the Scudetto, and we work every day to achieve this goal. Win the Champions League? Maybe I’d get another tattoo. Arsenal are a great team, they’re young but don’t have our experience. This can make a difference.”

Milan continue to work in Dubai and tomorrow they’ll take on PSG for the Emirates Challenge (16:30 CET).

KP BOATENG is confident that Milan will win the Scudetto again and are favourites against Arsenal.

They don’t call him Big-Bang Boateng for nothing: the Milan midfielder has turned from one, rather-cheap, option in midfield, to one of the main keys in Massimiliano Allegri’s tactics over the past two seasons.

Boateng has made a leap in quality this season and has answered his many critics on the playing ground and the 24-year-old is very much certain that Milan will beat the competition for the Serie A title again.

CARLO ANCELOTTI’S first game as Paris Saint-Germain’s manager will be against his beloved Milan.

Ancelotti made history with Milan, winning a Scudetto and two Champions League titles and on January 4th, he will be facing the very same Milan – with Allegri on the bench – with his Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italian was appointed PSG coach on Friday and the Emirates Challenge sees Milan, who won the Challenge last year, facing Carletto’s new team, and it is strange for the former Chelsea and Juve coach.

“It will be strange to play against Milan in my first match as the coach of PSG. I have great memories of my time at Milan, where I have many friends,” said Ancelotti, who watched Milan play a lot this season as he worked for Sky Sport Italia before making the move to Les Parisiens and is a big fan of the Rossoneri.

Another PSG man, who is a fan of Milan, is the highly-rated and sought-after Mamadou Sakho. “Milan are my favorite team.
